This presentation shares the outcomes of a kaupapa Māori research project, led by Kura Lacey and Margaret Clark, to co-design an integrated oral health and diabetes service. Through wānanga with dental staff, diabetes allied health professionals, and whānau living with diabetes. The project centred lived experience and community voice to identify barriers and shape practical service improvements. Grounded in whakawhanaungatanga and authentic co-design, the work demonstrates how kaupapa Māori approaches can create more responsive, culturally grounded and better integrated models of care.
