In many cases, dental implants are now considered the Gold Standard for replacement of missing teeth. However, they require specialised skills for placement, extensive and expensive equipment, and multiple visits. What do you do when the patient has a missing tooth and cannot afford implants or has an adverse medical condition? Conventional bridgework offers a time-proven solution but requires preparation of teeth which in many cases is unnecessary destructive and may condemn the patient to future endodontic therapy and perhaps even future loss of the tooth.
