‘Please Provide a Dental Clearance’: Navigating Decision-Making About Dental Treatments for Patients With Acute Medical Needs As our patients become more complex, the request for a 'dental clearance' is becoming a more frequent occurrence. Where this traditionally was for head and neck radiotherapy or a heart valve procedure, there seem to be a growing number of indications requiring the advice of a dental practitioner about whether a patient is 'dentally fit' to proceed with a medical intervention. But what exactly do doctors want from us?
