Day 1 – Friday 14th March 2025 -Appreciate the importance of soft tissue quality and volume in all aspects of dentistry -Education in the classic mucogingival surgeries including frenectomy, apical repositioning flaps, lateral repositioning flaps and papillary flaps -Learn the skills required for site preparation, harvesting and securing a free gingival graft Day 2 – Saturday 15th March 2025 -Live patient surgery for free gingival graft -Hands on clinical training on periodontal models of mucogingival surgeries Day 3 – Friday 9th May 2025 -Complete clinical training in the management of single and multiple teeth recession defects -Microsurgical plastic training -Application of connective tissue grafts and soft tissue substitutes (Alloplasts and xenografts) -Coronal advancement flaps for singular and multi teeth defects will be extensively covered -Tunnel techniques (modified coronally advanced tunnel) for singular and multi teeth defects will be extensively covered Day 4 – Saturday 10th May 2025 -Live patient surgery for recession coverage -Hands on clinical training on animal models

Learning outcomes

-Develop a deep understanding for the importance of soft tissue quality in general practice. -Identify appropriate procedures for clinical problems and their indications. -Periodontal plastic surgery focusing on the classic mucogingival surgeries including frenectomy, apical repositioning flap, lateral repositioning flaps, papillary flaps, and free gingival grafts. -Understand the aetiology, pathogenesis and risk factors involved in recession development -Periodontal plastic surgeries focusing on recession coverage procedures. -Develop an understanding of surgery involving single and multiple teeth with a focus on -Coronally Advanced Flap and Modified Tunnel techniques. -Exposure to different sources and techniques for connective tissue harvesting. -Combining plastics with restorative treatments

Dr Sheng Zhang

Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, International Dental Implant Association and International Academy of Dentofacial Esthetics. Dr Sheng Zhang is a general dentist with a special interest and practice limited to periodontics and implantology. He has studied extensively around the world learning from the leaders in the field. Dr Sheng is a published author, and his thesis was on Albumin Concentrated Growth Factors (Alb-CGF) in the sinus lift procedure. He has developed novel techniques with the use of autologous blood concentrates as an adjunct to guided bone regeneration. Dr Sheng has specifically designed this course for those who are embarking on their periodontal education or those clinicians wishing to develop a deeper understanding of Periodontics.
