Associate Prof. Lara Friedlander
Lara Friedlander qualified from the University of Otago in 1992 and completed her specialist training in Endodontics at the University of Otago in 1999 and has completed a PhD in Pulp Angiogenesis and Regeneration. Lara is Associate Dean of Undergraduate Dentistry, Oral Health and Dental Technology programmes and is Head of the Discipline of Endodontics at the University of Otago where she leads the specialist training programme and has supervised numerous Clinical Doctorate and PhD students. Lara has been responsible for introducing and delivering advanced Endodontic modules in rotary and reciprocating Endodontics into the BDS programme and has recently been part of a panel that has developed guidelines and recommendations for endodontic educators. Lara is Chief examiner for the Final RACDS Fellowship Examination in general dental practice and is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy. She has lectured extensively internationally with over 67 publications and research interests in endodontic education, clinical research and oral immunopathology and sits on the Board for the New Zealand Dental Research Foundation. She has a special interest in vital pulp therapy and is a member of the Global Pulp Preservation Advisory Board for Dentsply Sirona. Lara is passionate about working with general dentists to enhance their endodontic knowledge and skills and led the establishment of New Zealand’s first Practice Based Research Network which aims to translate questions from general practice into clinically useful initiatives that improve patient treatment outcomes in NZ.
