This interactive session focuses on the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of early-career dentists. Participants will explore common stressors in dental practice, strategies for work-life balance, and support systems available through NZDA and beyond.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will be able to: Recognise early signs of burnout and stress. Identify practical strategies to enhance personal wellbeing. Understand how to access professional support resources, including NZDA services. Develop a personalised approach to maintaining long-term health in practice.

Dr Natalie Stent – Dentist & Wellbeing Advocate Based in Napier, Natalie graduated from the University of Otago (BDS 1991) and earned an MSc in Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry from Manchester (with Distinction). With over 25 years’ experience in general practice—plus a strong interest in cosmetic and advanced restorative dentistry—she lectures at AUT and Otago, is currently studying forensic dentistry, and serves as the Wellbeing Champion for the Hawke’s Bay NZDA branc
