NZRC CORE Immediate

CORE Immediate is designed for dentists who do not administer any form of sedation. This course is intended for dentists expected to manage and supervise resuscitation events. Certification requires learners to demonstrate a specified standard of simulated practical skills facilitated by self-directed learning before the course and face-to-face training. Skills stations cover Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, using an AED, Airway Management, and Medical Emergency scenarios.

Learning outcomes

Upon completing the CORE Immediate course, participants will feel confident and competent in handling medical emergencies within their clinical area. The course covers: • Understanding the importance of teamwork and communication. • Performing CPR on adults and using an AED. • Performing CPR on children and infants, including managing a choking patient. • Recognizing signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and correctly drawing up and administering adrenaline confidently. • Safely managing airways, including the use of oxygen therapy. • Knowledge and ability to handle various medical emergencies, such as seizures, strokes, chest pain, asthma, and maternal collapse.
