IV Sedation Midazolam Refresher Course

The day will consist of a review of the topics covered in the 2-day midazolam comprehensive course, with theory, equipment, set up, pharmacology, sedation protocols, capnography, current regulations and requirements. There will be an opportunity to practice cannulation, with tips on techniques. Newer cannula technology will be shown with hands on practice. There will be high fidelity simulation on common sedation clinical scenarios, complications and their appropriate management. To gain certification group 1 will need to observe 3 sedation cases and pass SST after the course is completed. Groups 2 and 3 will need to be current with SST to start sedating again but won’t need to do case, observations. All attendees will require core advanced resuscitation certification. This will be a full 8.30am – 5.00pm day course. The simulation and cannulation practicals may run overtime. The SST license cost is free for NZSSD members.
