Using cases from Dental Protection’s extensive international data base, this session will explore: Both common and unusual cases we see in different countries How can the risks of such cases arising be minimised, and such cases managed when they occur? How can we best manage the situation when a poor outcome has arisen? How can we learn from them?

Dr James Foster

James qualified from Newcastle Dental School in 1990 and was in General Practice for sixteen years during which time he ran two practices in Northumberland. James had various educational roles with the Northern Deanery and Newcastle Dental hospital. James obtained a Masters degree in Medical Law in 2005, together with the MFGDP (UK). James was appointed as an Associate Dento-Legal Adviser for Dental Protection in 2004 before becoming a full-time Dento-Legal Adviser in March 2008. James handles cases from several International jurisdictions and in 2014 he was appointed Head of Dental Services for Australia and New Zealand and has now been appointed Dental Lead for both Australasia and Asia, and Deputy Dental Director. In November 2019, James was awarded the Foundation Fellowship of the Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians, and in March 2023, James was awarded the Fellowship of the College of General Dentistry.
