By the end of this hands-on course, participants will be empowered to design and execute aesthetic anterior restorations using composite resins, achieving predictable results and optimal cosmetic outcomes for their patients whether in a general dental or cosmetic dental setting.

Learning outcomes

This comprehensive course will equip participants with the following key skills and knowledge: • Smile Design and Cosmetic Planning: Gain a foundation in smile design principles, including tooth anatomy, different teeth setup styles (considering line angles for optimal aesthetics), and the importance of proportions in creating a balanced and attractive smile. Learn to translate these principles into effective cosmetic treatment plans. • Understanding the shape and morphology of anterior teeth and how to replicate this clinically. • Understanding colour theory and the various methods for selecting the correct shade for anterior composite restorations. • Introducing a polychromatic layering technique using everyday vita-based composites that most dental practices will have access to. • Discussing the importance of instrument selection and providing tips on an easy and predictable use. • Repair of defects and bubbles. Simple protocols to manage composite repairs and issues • Providing step by step contouring and polishing techniques for achieving life-like anatomy and appearance.

Dr Penelope Jones graduated from Sydney University Dental School and after having been in General Practice in Sydney and London for some years she went on to practice in a specialist Endodontic Practice in Sydney for over 25 years. In the early days of practicing Dentistry she experienced serious ongoing pain herself almost to the point of having to retire In 1992 she completed 4 years of training at La Trobe University’s Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences in Melbourne to study human development , human movement and neuroplasticity and became a (Certified) Feldenkrais Practitioner and Teacher In the mid 1990s Dr Jones began teaching various workshops for the Dental Faculty’s Continuing Education. She taught “Back and Body Care”, “the Well Balanced Dentist”, “Are you Fit to Sit” and others She also began teaching undergraduates at the school as well. In 2001 after a serious car accident Dr Jones had to give up practice and taught basic sciences for some years in the Medical and Dental Faculties of Sydney University. She also used her WorkingPosture and Feldenkrais skills to rehabilitate serious neurologic and chronic pain issues from the accident.
