This expert-led webinar series offers dentists a practical, clinically focused update on this area of dentistry. Across the series, participants can deepen their confidence in identifying oral mucosal lesions, in particular those that may need urgent management. Supporting this is the opportunity to have a deeper look at biopsy results to ensure every step of patient care is considered. Each session is designed to translate specialist knowledge into clear, usable guidance, giving clinicians a stronger diagnostic foundation and greater assurance in managing patients with potentially complex oral findings.

Learning outcomes

This lecture will focus on the clinical recognition and assessment of red and white oral mucosal lesions, with particular emphasis on high risk lesion like PVL and identifying early features of oral potentially malignant disorders and early-stage oral squamous cell carcinoma. Through illustrative clinical examples, the session will introduced methods of oral cancer screening and highlight key diagnostic clues, risk stratification, and indications for biopsy and referral. The aim is to refresh clinicians’ knowledge in distinguishing high-risk lesions and to support timely diagnosis and improved patient outcomes.
