Tooth extraction leads to changes in the alveolar process, influenced by factors like flapless extractions, ridge preservation and implant placement. Various biomaterials have been used for alveolar ridge preservation (ARP), though finding an ideal material for all cases remains challenging. This course explores ARP techniques and biomaterial selection. It also highlights the importance of keratinized mucosa for peri-implant health, with acellular dermal matrix (ADM) offering a viable and less invasive alternative to connective tissue grafts (CTGs).

Learning outcomes

→ Understand the role of soft tissues in promoting peri-implant health. → Explore options and optimal timing for soft tissue augmentation procedures. → Assess the use of an acellular dermal matrix as an alternative to connective tissue grafts. → Evaluate the application of a novel magnesium membrane in implant procedures. → Compare different biomaterials used in alveolar ridge preservation. → Determine the appropriate options and timing for alveolar ridge preservation. → Learn key techniques and best practices for handling NOVAMag®
