Oral mucosal conditions range from anatomical variants of normal, common conditions (particularly orofacial infections, recurrent aphthous stomatitis and oral lichen planus) to those that may have more serious importance (e.g. bullous disorders). This webinar will focus primarily on those conditions that can be recognised and managed (or at least management initiated) in general practice, with a few key conditions highlighted for referral.

Learning outcomes

Clinically distinguish and be able to initiate treatment of anatomical variants of normal, including geographic tongue, oral candidoses, herpetic infections, recurrent aphthous stomatitis and reticular oral lichen planus; Outline practical strategies, simple prescriptions and over-the-counter solutions that may be used in common conditions or initiated alongside referral for further specialist input; Recognise key clinical determinants that suggest a more serious bullous disorder or ulcerative dermatosis (e.g. erosive lichen planus) is present that requires specialist referral
