Patients often present with gingival recession which by and large do not cause any symptoms. When do we electively recommend to treat recession? Moreover, what options can be predictably offered? This lecture aims to discuss the biology of gingival recession around teeth, which builds a decision framework for predictable intervention.

Dr Andrew Liaw completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at James Cook University in Cairns in 2016 and has worked all over Australia in both public and private practice. He was awarded Honours for his research in antibiotics in non-surgical periodontal therapy and later enrolled into a three-year specialist degree in Periodontology at the University of Queensland. During his training, Dr Liaw was a recipient of the Australian Periodontology Research Foundation and Australian Dental Research Foundation Grants and awarded the GJ Seymour ASP medallion for his publications on salivary epigenetic f
