Laurie is a specialist in special needs dentistry. He is based at the University of Queensland, where he has worked for 37 years, and continues to contribute to special needs dentistry postgraduate training. He leads the research group in clinical microbiology and advanced technologies and has authored over 200 publications on microbiology and 75 on infection control. He is the 2022 Chair of the ADA Infection Control Committee and has been on the ICC for over 20 years, including serving as the editor of the ADA Guidelines for Infection Control since 2010.
