This study group session will provide a comprehensive review of clinical records and informed consent, emphasizing their importance in dental practice. We will refer to the Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ) practice standards to ensure compliance with legal and ethical obligations. Participants will learn about the requirements for maintaining patient records, the principles of informed consent, and the management of various types of clinical information such as radiographs, models, and photographs.

Learning outcomes

-Understand the critical role of clinical records and informed consent in dental practice. -Familiarize with DCNZ standards for patient records and informed consent. -Learn how to manage and store different types of clinical information. -Gain knowledge on the legal requirements for record retention. -Develop skills to effectively document and obtain informed consent. -Know the responsibilities and procedures when patient records are requested by police or other agencies.
