The functional and cosmetic rehabilitation of advanced periodontal patients. The prosthetic management of patients with advanced periodontal disease often requires a multidisciplinary approach to achieve health, function and aesthetic outcomes. This lecture will showcase what is possible in the periodontal restorative interface utilising restorative techniques, fixed or aligner orthodontics and surgical treatment modalities.

Learning outcomes

- Recognise the practical and aesthetic challenges of restorative dentistry in patients with loss of attachment. - Understand the relationship between restorative margins and supra-crestal tissue attachment. - Appreciate periodontally compromised teeth can often be used to support prosthetics with good long-term outcomes. - Visualise outcomes for restorative procedures with periodontal concerns. - Realise a hopeless tooth is not a useless tooth.

Dr Sheng Zhang completed a Bachelor of Oral Health from University of Sydney and Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide where he was awarded the University Medal. He has a Graduate Diploma in Orthodontics from James Cook University and specialist post graduate training in periodontics with a sub specialisation in implants from Spain. His practice is limited to providing periodontal disease management and implant rehabilitation of complex multidisciplinary cases.
