Locum Dentist - March 2027 - Auckland
Glow Dental is a boutique private practice in Stonefields, Auckland, built around the clinical philosophy and reputation of our principal dentist. We are seeking a locum dentist to cover two clinical days per week (days and hours negotiable) for approximately three months of maternity leave from March 2027. ABOUT YOU
You are calm and personable with patients and colleagues, and you work comfortably within an established team and set of clinical protocols. You are confident across day-to-day general dentistry, including emergency and pain relief (pulpectomies and extractions), routine restorative work, and sound diagnosis. Complex cases are covered by a clear in-house referral pathway, so you can focus on the dentistry within your scope.

Associate Dentist 3-4 Days/Week Starting Jan 2027 - Lower Hutt
One of our associates is heading to Dunedin to start specialist training, creating an opportunity for an experienced dentist to take over her established book from January 2027.
Switch Dental is an independently owned practice in central Lower Hutt, on the main street beside Queensgate and a short drive from central Wellington.
Your Appointment Book
You're stepping into a solid, established patient list built over decades - we've acquired two local practices along the way, and many of our patients have been with us across generations.
Beyond the established book, new patients come through our own marketing as well as referrals from our Principal Dentist. He deliberately keeps his clinical scope restricted to implants, sleep dentistry, Botox and diagnosis, so much of his comprehensive restorative work (including crown and bridge) is referred to the associates.
We also have clinicians with particular strengths in complex endodontics and surgical extractions, so those cases can be referred internally if they’re not your thing. Equally, if you bring a particular area of interest or expertise, there will be opportunities for internal referrals your way too.
The Team
We're a four-surgery practice with fifteen staff, including four dentists, two hygienists and an experienced support team. Everyone looks after their own patient base, but there’s plenty of clinical collaboration when a second opinion is helpful or a case is better suited to someone else’s skill set.
We run a highly systemised practice and automate workflows wherever we can. Our systems are designed to make things easier and more efficient for the whole team, while giving patients a consistent experience no matter who they see.
Technology and Clinical Support
We work digitally wherever it makes sense:
- CEREC Primescan, Primemill and SpeedFire - same-day digital restorative work, with DAs trained to scan and run the crown and bridge - processing themselves
- TRIOS scanner
- Established expertise in implant placement, sleep dentistry, botox and Invisalign

- OPG and CBCT on site
- Dentsply Sirona Astra Tech implants, guided workflows via Simplant

We share a building with a periodontist, orthodontist and oral & maxillofacial surgeon and have a close working relationship with them if you ever need an opinion on something.
Hours
Our clinical day runs 8:30am–5:30pm, with the team arriving at 8:15am for our morning huddle. Four days a week would be ideal, though we’d consider three days for the right person. We’d particularly welcome someone interested in working Saturdays as we continue to grow our Saturday coverage, but it isn’t essential.
Support and Development
Clinicians have regular 1:1s with the Principal Dentist and twice-monthly clinician meetings where we discuss cases and share ideas. We also have facilitated team development days, including communication training and other professional development.
We have regular team lunches and optional social events outside the clinical day.
Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who values being part of a collaborative team - clinical ability matters, but so does how you treat your assistant and colleagues, how you take feedback, and the kind of team member you are.
You need to be an excellent communicator with patients. We want someone who can explain dental problems clearly without unnecessary jargon, be confident and direct when something matters, and help patients understand the pros and cons of their choices without pressuring them into treatment. Our approach is to give patients the information and clarity they need to make informed decisions about their own oral health.
Clinically, we’re looking for solid general dentistry - restorative, crown and bridge, CEREC or a willingness to learn, routine extractions, and confidence treating families and children. No advanced niche is required.
Starting
January 2027, with the option to spend December with us first - meeting the team and getting a feel for the book before it's officially yours. You'll need to be registered and experienced to practise in New Zealand - we're not recruiting internationally.
