Many private dentists are already providing elements of special care dentistry — often without realising it. This session will explore common patient groups seen in everyday practice and highlight practical, safe ways to manage their care with confidence. We’ll focus on realistic “how-to” strategies, simple adjustments that make a big difference, and clear guidance on what is appropriate to manage in private practice — and when to refer. The aim is to demystify special care dentistry and show that, with the right approach, there is more you can safely do for these patients than you might think
