Sedation 201 Midazolam IV Comprehensive Course
This course is a mix of lectures, practical demonstrations, Practical cannulation, high fidelity simulations and a course examination. The course examination is multi choice and must be passed with a grade of 80% otherwise you will have to repeat the course at your own expense. A course manual with essential reading will be sent 4 weeks prior to the course. Once you pass the course exam you will have 6 months to observe 3 IV sedation cases with a mentor and then complete the online Safe Sedation Training course. You will then receive your certification.
Learning outcomes
Learn how to asses a patient for suitability for sedation and learn the risks of IV sedation. Learn how to place an IV cannula. Learn the technique of safe titration of midazolam and how to sedate safely. Learn the possible complications of sedation and how to manage them.
