This FOLLOW UP COURSE builds on Mastering Tooth Wear: Advanced Diagnosis and Treatment Strategies, shifting the focus from broad treatment planning to the practical occlusal skills needed for accurate jaw position recording. As participants have already covered diagnosis, risk assessment, and management options in the first course, this session concentrates solely on three key clinical techniques: facebow recording, Luci jig use, and centric relation bite registration. The course begins with a short refresher on the importance of achieving a stable and reproducible jaw position in tooth-wear cases, particularly when planning changes to occlusal vertical dimension or evaluating full-arch rehabilitation needs. Participants will then work through step-by-step demonstrations of extraoral and intraoral facebow transfer to ensure precise maxillary cast mounting for diagnostic and restorative procedures.

Learning outcomes

A hands-on component will guide clinicians through the fabrication and adjustment of a Lucia jig to deprogramme the patient and locate a reliable centric relation. Building on this, attendees will practise taking accurate CR bite records and learn simple chairside checks to confirm record stability. This focused training ensures that clinicians strengthen their confidence and consistency in these essential occlusal techniques, supporting predictable outcomes for patients with tooth wear.
