The Secret Lives of Paediatric High Fives is a friendly, practical tour of paediatric dentistry designed for the general dentist. Through real-world cases, we’ll explore dental trauma, hypomineralisation, minimally invasive options like SDF and Hall crowns, and positive behaviour management. With a strong focus on collaboration, this talk highlights how general dentists and paediatric specialists can work together —knowing when to jump in, when to high five, and when to refer—to deliver the best care for kids

Dr Lydia Ng BDS, FRACDS (GDP), D Clin Dent (Paeds)

Lydia grew up in the Hutt Valley and completed her undergraduate training at the University of Otago. After failing her rubber dam assessment in second year, she came back stronger and went on to complete her specialist training in paediatric dentistry at the University of Adelaide. These days, she routinely double-dams. She has since returned to the Te Whanganui-a-Tara region, where she holds consultant roles at Hutt Hospital and the Community Oral Health Service, alongside working in private practice. Lydia is a passionate advocate for oral health for our tamariki and rangatahi.
