Contemporary endodontics has seen unprecedented advances in diagnostic imaging, intracanal disinfection techniques, and materials. These advancements have led to evidence-validated improvements in endodontic treatment outcomes. This course will show participants how to effectively integrate important technologic advancements into daily practice to improve endodontic treatment outcomes. Advances in endodontic imaging, instrumentation, root canal disinfection, root filling, and materials will be discussed. Clinical techniques will be demonstrated via microscope assisted clinical video.

Learning outcomes

Know how to successfully image any part of the dentition. Apply CBCT (3D) imaging to improve endodontic diagnosis and treatment. Understand the principles of dentine conservation in modern endodontics and how this can enhance long-term tooth survival. Understand the advantages, principles, and practical aspects of martensitic NiTi file systems. Apply techniques to enhance endodontic irrigation and obturation. Understand the application of MTA and bioceramics in modern endodontics.

Dr Suzy Wang Dentist

Dr Suzy Wang obtained her Bachelor of Dentistry degree with Honours from the University of Sydney in 2010. She practiced general dentistry in both public and private sectors in Sydney and regional NSW before starting her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Adelaide. She obtained her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics in 2015. Dr Wang has been involved in teaching undergraduate dental students at both the University of Sydney and the University of Adelaide. She has published papers in peer-reviewed Australian scientific journals.

Associate Professor Geoffrey Young Endodontist

Associate Professor Geoffrey Young is a highly qualified and experienced specialist endodontist. A/Prof Young obtained his BDS degree (University Medal) from the University of Sydney, his specialist degree from the University of Melbourne, and was the first endodontist in NSW awarded Fellowship of the RACDS in the Special Field of Endodontics. He subsequently established Sydney Endodontic Centre – the largest specialist endodontic group practice in the Inner West of Sydney. A/Prof Young is Head of Endodontics at the Department of Dentistry, Latrobe University.
