Pre-requisites: Where possible, participants are required to bring a minimum of three unmounted, extracted, disinfected teeth (including at least one molar) that have been pre-accessed at home. Acceptable disinfection methods include soaking in 10% formalin or autoclaving. In addition, participants are requested to bring their loupes and headlights for use during the course.

A/Prof James Wealleans DDM, Cert Endo

Assoc Professor James A. Wealleans, originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, graduated with honours from Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2006. He subsequently completed an Advanced General Dentistry Residency in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and in 2010 earned his Endodontic Residency from the prestigious University of Texas Health Science Center and Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr Wealleans is an American Board- Certified Endodontist—an achievement attained by only 20% of specialists in the field. From 2013 to 2018, he served as Director of Endodontic Residency Training and Education at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He has held academic appointments as Associate Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. Dr Wealleans has authored more than ten published research papers and serves as a scientific advisor for the Journal of Endodontics. In 2017, Dr Wealleans invented guided endodontic microsurgery, for which he holds two US patents. He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally. After 20 years of honourable service in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2018, Dr Wealleans relocated to Sydney, where he now devotes his time to practising endodontics on Sydney’s North Shore and the Central Coast.
