Dr Riana Clarke

Dr Riana Clarke BDSc (Dublin), MDPH (Cork)

Riana qualified as a dentist in 1991 at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and has a Masters in Dental Public Health from UniversityCollege Cork, Ireland. Following qualification, Riana practised in public dental systems and privately in Ireland and the United Kingdom, and worked for the Ministry of Health in the United Arab emirates. Since moving to New Zealand in 2004, Riana has worked for the School Dental Service as a Community Dental Surgeon, lectured at AUT and since 2004 has maintained a private practice. Riana is currently the Clinical Chief Advisor, Oral Health in the Ministry of Health

Dr Rob Beaglehole BDS, MSc Dent Public Health

Rob has a science degree and a dental degree and is a Public Health Specialist. He has worked as a clinical dentist, a public health policy advisor for the World Dental Federation in Geneva, a Senior Political Advisor to the Minister of Health in Parliament under two governments and more recently as the National Public Health Advocate for Health NZ. Rob has been instrumental in firmly placing the dangers of sugary drinks on the national agenda, including helping to initiate policies where no sugary drinks are sold at Hospitals, some Councils and many schools around New Zealand and the World Health Organization in Geneva. Rob is currently a Senior Advisor to the New Zealand Dental Association. He works as a clinical dentist in a private practice in Nelson and is also working with Sir Collin Tukuitonga from the University of Auckland on supporting Pacific nations develop and implement policies targeting NCD risk factors.

Dr Robin Whyman

Dr Robin Whyman BDS(Otago) MComDent(Otago) FRACDS FRACDS(DPH) FADI Hon Life NZDA

Robin is a dental specialist in public health dentistry and a general dentist. He is a part-time Director (Dental Policy) withthe New Zealand Dental Association. He is engaged in a number of public health dentistry projects involving oral health advocacy, equity of access to oral health services, improving oral health outcomes, community water fluoridation, clinical leadership and quality improvement for dental services. Robin's clinical practice involves hospital-based paediatric dentistry, special needs dentistry, minor oral surgery and general dentistry for high needs patients at Hawke's Bay Hospital. Robin has held a range of clinical leadership, executive management and governance positions. He is currently Chair of the New Zealand Dental Association Research Foundation board. His previous roles have included board member with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, member and chair of the Dental Council, Chief Medical and Dental Officer at Hawke's Bay DHB, Clinical Director of Oral Health Services at four District Health Boards, Chief Dental Officer - New Zealand Ministry of Health, General Manager Clinical Service - Dental Health Services Victoria (Australia) and Executive Director of the vNew Zealand Dental Association
