Prosthetic Component This hands-on prosthetic component focuses on the restorative management of single-tooth dental implants, providing general dentists with a clear, practical framework to confidently restore straightforward implant cases in both the anterior and posterior regions. Participants will be guided through the entire prosthetic workflow, from pre- restorative assessment and treatment planning to impression taking, laboratory communication, and final crown delivery. Both conventional and digital workflows will be covered, with hands-on experience in physical impressions and intra-oral scanning. The course will explore implant crown restoration options, including cement- retained and screw-retained designs, with clear explanation of their clinical indications, advantages, and limitations. Emphasis will be placed on correct component selection, restorative sequencing, and identifying and avoiding common prosthetic pitfalls that can compromise long-term outcomes. Key principles of soft tissue management will be introduced, including techniques to support healthy peri-implant tissues and predictable papilla formation, particularly in the aesthetic zone. By the end of this prosthetic component, participants will have a structured understanding of the restorative phase of implant treatment and the confidence to restore their first single-tooth implant case safely and predictably within general practice. Surgical Component This hands-on surgical implant course provides general dentists with a clear, structured introduction to the safe and predictable placement of single-tooth dental implants in straightforward clinical scenarios. Participants will be guided through the complete surgical workflow, from patient assessment and case selection through to implant positioning, flap design, osteotomy preparation, and implant placement in both anterior and posterior regions. Strong emphasis is placed on understanding relevant surgical anatomy, recognising risk factors, and identifying cases that are appropriate for management within general practice. Core surgical principles are explored in depth, including atraumatic tooth extraction, preservation of hard and soft tissues, three-dimensional implant positioning, and achieving primary stability. Participants will gain practical experience with basic flap designs, suturing techniques, and the management of simple post-extraction implant sites. The course also introduces the fundamentals of guided implant surgery, including CBCT interpretation and the role of surgical guides in improving accuracy, predictability, and safety. Common surgical complications and early implant failures are discussed, with a practical focus on prevention, early recognition, and appropriate management. By the end of this surgical component, participants will have a strong understanding of the biological and technical principles that underpin successful implant placement and will begin building the confidence to safely place single-tooth implants in carefully selected cases within general practice.
