Basics for a New Dental Assistant Become an efficient and confident dental assistant! Join this new hands-on course and gain the basic knowledge and skills required to be a productive dental assistant. This specifically designed course provides the basic knowledge and skills required to help new dental assistants in their role. Review and practice multiple common dental assisting duties and learn strategies to stay organised and improve you dental assisting skills. Use chairside manikins and practice hands-on activities including: surgery preparation, greeting a patient, assisting a dentist, suction techniques, moisture control, surgery changeover, positioning and ergonomics. In addition, this course outlines the importance for infection control, hand hygiene, contamination zones and reviews the basics for processing reusable instruments and equipment. Very limited seats are available for optimal personal attention and training.

Cathy Shiel Cert III Dental Assisting, Cert IV Dental Assisting Radiography, Oral Health and Anaesthesia and Sedation. Cert IV Teaching and Assessment, Grad Dip OHS UoN Cathy Shiel has 40 years of experience working in dental industry, including teaching dental assisting for 25 years at TAFE NSW. Cathy has practical experience in all aspects of dental assisting, including dental assistant training, practice management, IPC training, four-handed dentistry, developing policy and procedures, and assist practices in accreditation. Cathy Loves the industry and is passionate about training DA’s to provide the best assistance in the surgery.
