When it’s time to sell their practice, many dentists delay putting their practice on the market, due to little understanding of the value of what they are selling and how to prepare their practice for sale, as well as the fear of loss of identity post sale. This course will teach you the steps and processes involved in selling your practice, and how to prepare your practice for sale in your final years, in order to optimise the result, to get you the best price and conditions and enable you to exit on your terms. Course Topics: — Exit planning. How do you get your practice ready to sell? — Various exit strategies, including walk-in walk-out, the incremental sale, sell and stay on and grandfather options. — Succession planning. What you need to do now to prepare (and how do you manage the transition to retirement). — Valuing your practice. What is the value in your dental practice and how to quantify the value. — Effective strategies for transferring patients effectively from seller to buyer. — What to do next post sale. Volunteer dentistry, locum, structure working part-time or retire. — Understanding what you are selling. — Does your current structure provide for succession? — Valuing your practice. Simon Palmer is the Founder and Managing Director of Practice Sale Search, Australia’s leading dental practice brokerage. This exciting two day programme, featuring the internationally acclaimed oral pathologists Paul Speight and Paula Farthing, will provide an update on a range of oral mucosal and intrabony pathology relevant to the oral and maxillofacial region. It will focus on recent developments in classification, diagnosis and management. It is aimed at clinicians who regularly manage these lesion (including specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral surgery, oral medicine and periodontology) although there will be topics of interest to both general dental practitioners and anatomical pathologists. Representative cases with a brief history and clinical information will be circulated to participants prior to the meeting for subsequent panel discussion.

Paul is a Former Dean and Emeritus Professor of Oral Pathology at the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield, UK. He is an internationally acclaimed diagnostic and research oral and maxillofacial pathologist with over 35 years involvement in dental research and education. He is a previous President of the British Society for Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, the British Society for Oral and Dental Research and of the International Association of Oral Pathologists. Paula is an Emeritus Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield, UK. She is an internationally acclaimed diagnostic and research oral and maxillofacial pathologist with over 35 years involvement in dental research and education. Paula was the first female President of the British Society for Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and is a past president of the Oral Medicine/Pathology Group of the International Association for Dental Research. Alison is the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Professor of Oral Pathology at the University of Otago, New Zealand. She is a registered specialist in oral pathology and is Head of the Oral Pathology Centre, the University’s oral pathology diagnostic service and the Leader of the Oral Immunopathology Research Group. She is a previous Chair of the Faculty of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and their current Chief Examiner. Haizal is currently a senior lecturer in Oral Pathology at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Otago New Zealand and deputy Associate Dean (Postgraduate). Previously he was with the Department of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Malaysia (UKM) where he was associate professor and deputy dean of postgraduate, research and international He has an important international collaboration with Oral Cancer Research Coordinating Centre, Malaysia, a key research institute and oral cancer tissue bank in South East Asia. His current research interest is the concept of pre-metastatic niche and he is investigating immune tolerance in metastatic lymph nodes. Benedict Seo is Senior Lecturer in Oral Pathology at the University of Otago, New Zealand. He graduated with a BDS in 2007 and qualified as a registered specialist in oral pathology upon completion of his DClinDent in 2011. Ben’s research focuses on the molecular pathogenesis of oral cancer, with a particular emphasis on endoplasmic reticulum stress and unfolded protein response. He maintains close research collaborations with colleagues in the USA, Australia, Korea, Malaysia and Fiji.
